On Saturday night, January 23, 2016, FIBER presents two audiovisual performances by upcoming Dutch artists Zeno van den Broek and Mark Ijzerman. The former explores the tension between space and sound, while the latter presents a research into the performative and material qualities of tape loops. Prior to the audiovisual performance evening, there will be a meetup during the day that brings together practitioners in the field of performative & immersive art, which is co-hosted with Retune. The goal of this collaboration is to create a day of exchange, communication and collaboration between actors using similar platforms and tools.

The programme continues on Sunday evening, January 24, with a screening programme of video art, digital and performance artworks. For this special occasion FIBER collaborates with LIMA, the international platform for sustainable access to media art, and made a selection of video’s taken from LIMA’s extensive historical archive.

Central to the Vorspiel programme is the exchange of network and knowledge between various artistic practitioners who are operating within the domains of live cinema, performative installation art and immersive performances.

Our programme will take place in the same weekend SPEKTRUM invites the iii collective from The Hague that will present a programme on Friday.

FIBER at SPEKTRUM has been made possible with the generous support of the
Creative Industry Fund NL.

Media art – what is that exactly? At the very least the history of media art embraces the histories of performance art, cinema, activism and medium specificity – four major themes that recur frequently and in many guises. The LIMA Collection includes of all of these histories, with installations, videos, performances and born-digital artworks dating from the 1970s to the present day.
