And how can we, in return make these structures controllable for ourselves instead of the other way around? Expect to be sucked into a complete Subterranean experience of algorithmic and modular systems, atmospheric visuals and sounds, a film screening gallery, experimental techno and art at night at the industrial club Radion. Field Records will contribute by hosting their own stage, other contributions are: Felix K, London Modular Alliance, Neel, John Osborn en Daniel Berio (see full line-up & ticketinfo below and on the festivalwebsite).

Festival theme The Subterranean

With the theme The Subterranean: Exploring Networked Tools and Matter, FIBER investigates the use of digital tools with which automatic technologies and alternative networks are made and manipulated. The two festival days will be a subterranean journey that will offer a peek into the networked and ‘smart’ landscapes that have emerged from a worldwide explosion of digital technology. Visitors will see new combinations of light, space, data and matter. The dark side of the networked world will be addressed as well: the part where we are followed by invisible powers that follow us through mass surveillance software, colourful apps and online services.

About FIBER

FIBER is an Amsterdam based interdisciplinary organisation, that presents new developments in audiovisual art, digital culture and the experimental and deeper corners of electronic music. The team works year round with a vibrant network of artists, designers, researchers and developers, who aspire to introduce mind bending experiences to a broad audience. Special attention goes out to the support of up and coming talents across numerous creative disciplines.

Next to small-scale events and exhibitions, the team organises the recurring FIBER Festival in Amsterdam, which brings together a diverse crowd of new talent, established artists and curious visitors. FIBER aims to explore hybrid forms of art, the power of media- and network technology, and encourages an exchange of views between the makers and their audience.
